I often hear people say, "the longer you live in Arizona, the more you get used to the heat"...well I am here to tell you that that statement is NOT true!! I have lived in AZ my whole life...21 years...and EVERY summer I have a mental shock at how hot it is!
Finding things to do in the summer is ALWAYS interesting. Its hilarious to see all the people driving around a parking lot for several minutes just waiting for a closer spot so they don't have to be in the heat too long, the contraptions moms use to keep the baby car seats from getting to the point of blistering you if you touch them, and the sudden rise in electric bills because families refuse to even go outside when the sun is up.
Some people choose to spend the day in the pool working on their tan, some people sit in front of the TV with fans blowing at full speed and the a/c down to below freezing...my sister and I...we choose good 'ol peter piper pizza!!!
A few weeks ago(we are wimps I know because if you have been here lately...its not even "hot" yet!) we loaded her two kids and my brother's daughter in the mazda and headed to Riverview to enjoy the afternoon in doors with fun games and...pizza. Normally when I watch Natalie and we hang out with Macie and Ren it's at McDonalds, so even though the pizza is not the greatest...its better than chuckie cheese...it's a change from the norm.
I can honestly say that I have never seen those two girls eat as well as I did that day. Sitting at the bench right in front of all those games and hearing the coins jingle in my pocket, the urge to eat fast and happy strikes in those little minds!
The girls think it is the greatest thing in the world to walk through the small arcade area with their coins, dropping them in the slots, and watching as the tickets come out when they "win".
Ren just turned one so there isn't a whole lot for him to do in an arcade but at this particular Peter Piper there is a small ride with three animals on it. Kindra quickly put the kids on the ride, inserted the coins and held on to ren. All three of their faces lit up as it started to slowly go around in a circle.

Natalie was a little worried about it right when it started but twice around and she was all smiles!
Macie is a very brave girl! the second the ride started moving she laughed and waved as she passed.
